General Rootser is a boss that can be encountered in the Bergen Trail as part of the quest Out of the Box.
Appearance
General Rootser is a Karotto that appears to be wearing a hat and shoulder pads most similarly to what you would see in the army. It sits inside a circular, flying war machine of some sort, equipped with wings, a large glowing rim, and six holes near the tail.
Combat
In the first out of three phases this battle has, General Rootser summons two elemental spinners to fight along side him, the elements being Cold and Heat. These two Beyblade looking machines will constantly spin around the General Rootser's machine, and the player will have to destory these (most effective with the opposite element) to stun General Rootser. These two machines will use an attack according to their element:
Heat: Shoots a large flamethrower similar to that of the combat art Burn!, dealing a good amount of damage to the player.
Cold: Sends icicles to the player, homing at them. These icicles can be destroyed by a singular Heat combat art.
Occasionally, he will send the machines spinning around him at a greater radius, forcing the player to have their back against the wall, and shoot beams of electricity at it using the two tesla coils attached to the bottom of the machine.
Once the player has depleted one-third of the boss' health bar, he regains both the Heat and Cold spinners and gains a new element spinner: Wave.
Wave: sends a large projectile at the player. Deals a large amount of damage.
He will then spin around with a cold aura around him, constantly following the player. If the player is caught in the cold aura, they will take gradual damage. After a few seconds, he will finish with a powerful strike, dealing massive damage to whoever isn't on the 40% of the battlefield that isn't taken up by this attack. His machine is very large, so dodging this is near impossible. You will either get pushed off the cliff or caught in the spinning strike. He does this twice, so watch out.
After this move, he will shoot out four beams of electricity from the aforementioned tesla coils, each at alternating speeds, but the last two are shot much faster than the first two.
Repeat the before process until you get him to one-third of his health left. Now he gets really hard.
He gains a new spinning machine: Shock:
Shock: (Please fill this in, as I did not get to see what it does during my fight.)
On top of this, he will do his devastating cold spin attack FOUR times. Good luck trying to live through that one...
Strategies
If General Rootser sends his Cold spinning machine to attack you first, then his Heat while you are surrounded, make sure to sure a throw art (Most preferably Burn!) to get rid of the ice spikes and dodge the powerful flamethrower.
There is no recorded strategy for the cold spin attack. You could theoretically abuse Riposte in order to continuously Perfect Guard the entire attack, but that is very unlikely to happen unless you have the Meister Gloves.
