The Neutral Virus is an abstract enemy in CrossWorlds. It can be encountered in Vermillion Wasteland, Vermillion Dungeon and Vermillion Tower.

Neutral Virus

A strange being that roams the lands of Vermillion Wasteland. It randomly jumps on prey and attacks them multiple times. Luckily their defense is rather low and they can be disposed of quickly with any attack.

-Monster Fibula report

Appearance

These viruses take on the appearance of a simple ground drone that resembles a real-life bacteriophage. Its gray head is a rigid prism on a stem supported by four two-jointed legs.

Combat

Before attacking, it crouches and glows with a white light. It normally jumps and poses on the player’s head while dealing damage and slowing them down before jumping off, but it can also crouch for longer and ram the player. These two attacks can be countered and are differentiated by a distinct sound cue and a greater white glow during the longer charge.

Neutral Viruses can also be spawned by a Heat Virus or a Cold Virus. In this case, killing the elemental viruses will also kill the Neutral ones spawned by them.

Strategies

The Neutral Virus’s grab can be prevented by hitting it during its charge and, since it isn’t too resistant, countering its attacks doesn’t give an important advantage.
