The Raid Boss is an unclassified boss in CrossWorlds, composed of three separate enemies: Face, Laser and Core. It is the final boss of the Para Island Raid, which can only be completed in the A New Home DLC.

Appearance

The Raid Boss is a huge structure that is also the source of the Big Pillars that appear during the Raid. It has two rectangular sections that act as arenas for the players. Both of them have an unreachable Laser enemy on both the right and left wall, five trapdoors on the floor close to their top wall containing dispensers and three pairs of other trapdoors around the left, right and middle of them which contain the Raid Boss' Cores. Between both arenas there is a huge sphere of yellow light that seemingly is the energy source of the structure. Over it floats the Face, a rectangular section with two progressively smaller ones under it. The bigger section has two holes that act as eyes on the front and one flat surface on each side.

The Laser is a laser cannon with a rectangular base that is attached to the arena's walls, a spherical yellow bulb from which powerful light beam are fired, a metallic cover with small extensions around the bulb's back half, three metal pipes that extend from the back of the metallic cover and a square-shaped part that covers the the pipes almost entirely and has two yellow lines on its top face.

The Core is a prolonged metal pillar similar to the Big Pillars. It is a black rectangle that is deformed from middle to top, with a yellow section from which energy flows inbetween that part and the Core's base.

Combat

The player, Emilie and Luke fall on the right arena while Hlin, Buggy and Lukas are on the left one.

To defeat this boss (which cannot be attacked directly), one of the teams must defeat the Big Sliders that are spawned by the dispensers on the top wall of their arena. When the Big Slider is defeated, it will jump to the other arena and the team that received it will have to push it into the dispenser that is in the same position as the one that spawned it, causing them to break. After all the dispensers are broken, the teams switch roles and repeat the task. With all the dispensers destroyed twice, one or more Cores will rise from the floor and begin to attack. These can be attacked directly and destroying every single one that spawned advances to the next phase of the fight.

Phase 1

  • The player's team has to fight the Big Sliders first. The first one uses Heat, the second one Shock, and the ones thrown by the other team are Cold and Wave.
  • There are only two dispensers. These hide when the Cores are revealed and can spawn one or two Sliders instead of a single big one.
  • The team that sent the Big Slider tells the other which dispenser they have to push it into. The left team needs to push the first one into the left dispenser and the second one to the right, while the right team (the player's) pushes the first Big Slider to the right and the second one to the left.
  • Only one Core rises. The Raid Boss will defend it by summoning different patterns of elemental symbols on the floor which deal damage in an area after a few seconds.

Phase 2

  • The leftmost Laser is activated. It periodically aims with a red crosshair at the player or a teammate and fires a light beam that goes from the left to the right side of the arena, similar to Flare Burn!, with the difference being that it follows its target vertically, meaning that it moves up or down depending on their position.
  • The left team fights the Big Sliders first. They start with Cold, Heat and Shock, with the wave the player fights being Wave, then both Cold and Shock simultaneously.
  • Three dispensers are active on the left, right and middle of the top wall. The Big Sliders have to be pushed into the middle, right and left in the player's case, while the other team has to push them right, then Shock to the middle and Cold to the left.
  • Emilie will tell the other team to push the first Big Pillar, the Wave one, to the left, extending the fight due to her miscalculations.
  • Two Cores rise from the floor and the Raid Boss attacks faster.

Phase 3

  • Both Lasers are active. They begin the phase firing at the same time, but they attack separately for the rest of the fight.
  • Four dispensers are active on the left, middle-left, middle-right and right of the top wall.
  • The player's team fights the Big Sliders first: Heat to middle-right, Cold to middle-left, Wave to the right and Shock to the left. When they receive the Big Sliders, they have to push Heat to the middle-left dispenser, Shock to the right one, Wave to the left one and Cold to the middle-right one.
  • Three Cores rise and the Raid Boss attacks even faster.

Strategies

  • For survival, use the element that brings you the most durability since all the enemies present don't have any elemental weaknesses.
  • The light beams fired by Lasers can't chase you too fast, so you can dodge them by staying on the top or bottom of the arena, wait for them to fire and quickly Dash to the opposite side.
  • You will always have Luke and Emilie on your team during the fight. If you rather fighting the Raid Boss by yourself, you can use the Party Member Options in the Quickmenu to make them stop attacking and being targeted by enemies.
