The Chillertoise is a enemy in CrossWorlds. They can be encountered in Maroon Valley during the Blasting Shells quest.

Chillertoise

A more relaxed variant of the Drillertoise that is almost exclusively found in caves. They are usually completely immovable and answer threats by causing shockwaves from the safety of their shell. Only explosive measures might cause them to show any weaknesses.

Appearance

The Chillertoise is a stronger version of the Drillertoise and looks identical to it. It is a big, grey creature that is covered by brown rocks. It has four legs, each covered by brown, sharp rocks. Its head and its body have big lumps of brown rocks on top of it. Its tail also has a few small rocks attached to it. It has two small black eyes.

Combat

During normal combat, the Chillertoise will bury into the ground, leaving only its rocks visible and making it completely immune to damage. While underground, it will occasionally give a message that "hiding intensifies", at which it will let out several small shockwaves that push the player away, followed by a long chain of damaging shockwaves.

In order to deal damage to it, Lea must hit it with a bomb from the Cat 4-PU17. Once this happens, it will emerge from the ground and become much more active, frequently throwing chains of shockwaves that are longer and faster than its inactive shockwave chains. While active, it has a break meter, and if enough damage is dealt to it, it will break, becoming stunned and taking increased damage.

Strategies

As they are much less dangerous when hiding, it is important to concentrate on only one Chillertoise at a time. While you need to use bombs to awaken the Chillertoises, their shockwaves are capable of detonating the bombs and damaging you, so it may be better to use the Heat element to hit them with bombs from far away. In their aggressive stage, it can be very difficult to dodge or shield their attacks, and it may be necessary to take a few hits in order to break them. Always be aware of the other hiding Chillertoises in the area, as they can still attack you from behind.
