Hillcart

Hillcart is an organic boss in CrossWorlds. It can be encountered in Rhombus Square, at the end of the quest Trouble on the Highway.

Appearance
Hillcart is a small creature with brown fur and disorganized white hair, wearing a lab coat and a pair of goggles. It rides a self-driving white car that has two thrusters where its trunk should be.
Combat
This boss is fought in a highway, where the only platforms the player can walk on are eight cars organized in pairs in such a way that they can jump from one pair to another to dodge incoming attacks. The Hillcart will always be in front of the cars and has a high resistance, so the player has to throw Balls at it until it breaks, dropping its defense by a lot.
Phase 1
- The car teleports away, leaving small trails of fire where its tires should be. Then, it reappears behind the cars and attempts to run the player over twice, finishing by appearing in front of the cars again. During this attack, the Hillcart shuts its car’s door and hides, becoming invincible for the duration of the attack.
- Throws three Molotov cocktails into the air which explode after hitting the ground. They are always aimed directly at the player and their landing site is telegraphed by a big red crosshair. After finishing the attack, the Hillcart flashes red and becomes more vulnerable to breaking until it begins attacking again.
- Throws three fast-traveling rocks at the player in quick succession.
- Throws two sets of Molotov cocktails into the air. These always fall in a horizontal or vertical line, aligned to the cars the player uses as platforms. The Hillcart also becomes more vulnerable after finishing this attack.
Phase 2
- It attempts to run over the player four times in a row.
- Throws four Molotovs and a set in a straight line instead of only three.
- Throws a exploding rock after the three normal ones.
- Throws four sets of Molotovs instead of two.
Strategies
- Chill and Mark are ideal for this fight. The first one slows down the Hillcart’s attacks and gives you more time to hit it, and the second one boosts your damage by a considerable amount.
- Bullet Inferno is great for breaking this boss. If your ranged damage isn’t too good with Cold, you might as well stick with other elements.
- The rocks can be dodged simply by running up and down.
